A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; allowing all-terrain vehicles in certain state
campgrounds; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 84.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

[84.9258] CAMPGROUNDS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL-TERRAIN
VEHICLES; PILOT PROJECT.

(a) A person may operate an all-terrain vehicle in campground areas designated by the
commissioner of natural resources under this section.

(b) By August 1, 2018, the commissioner of natural resources must designate the
following areas as accessible to all-terrain vehicles:

(1) a campground south of state Trunk Highway 169 at Lake Vermilion-Soudan
Underground Mine State Park;

(2) campgrounds at Hayes Lake State Park; and

(3) access routes to the campgrounds identified under this paragraph from nearby
all-terrain vehicle trails.

(c) Designations made under this section are not subject to the rulemaking provisions
of chapter 14, and section 14.386 does not apply.

(d) This section expires January 1, 2024.

EFFECTIVE DATE.

This section is effective the day following final enactment.
