  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; clarifying medical 
  1.3             assistance coverage for public health nursing 
  1.4             services; amending Minnesota Statutes, section 
  1.5             256B.0625, subdivision 29. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 256B.0625, 
  1.8   subdivision 29, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 29.  [PUBLIC HEALTH NURSING CLINIC SERVICES.] (a) 
  1.10  Medical assistance covers the services of a certified public 
  1.11  health nurse or a registered nurse practicing in a public health 
  1.12  nursing clinic that is a department of, or that operates under 
  1.13  the direct authority of, a unit of government, if the service is 
  1.14  within the scope of practice of the public health or registered 
  1.15  nurse's license as a registered nurse, as defined in section 
  1.16  148.171. 
  1.17     (b) Medical assistance covers public health nursing clinic 
  1.18  services described in paragraph (a) when provided by licensed 
  1.19  home care agencies to children up to three months of age. 
  1.20     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.21  following final enactment.
