  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to commerce; regulating the sale, rental, 
  1.3             discharge, and possession of paint ball guns; 
  1.4             providing penalties and remedies; proposing coding for 
  1.5             new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325F. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [325F.815] [PAINT BALL GUNS.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [PROHIBITIONS.] (a) No person may sell, 
  1.9   rent, lend, or give a paint ball gun to a person under the age 
  1.10  of 18 without the written consent of the parent or legal 
  1.11  guardian. 
  1.12     (b) No person may discharge or possess a paint ball gun: 
  1.13     (1) on property owned by or under the control of the state 
  1.14  or any of its political subdivisions or of the board of regents 
  1.15  of the University of Minnesota; or 
  1.16     (2) in a school zone as defined in section 152.01, 
  1.17  subdivision 14a. 
  1.18     Subd. 2.  [PENALTIES.] (a) A person who violates 
  1.19  subdivision 1 is guilty of a misdemeanor. 
  1.20     (b) The public and private remedies in section 8.31 apply 
  1.21  to violations of this section.
