relating to education finance; creating a new component of special education
funding for districts with extraordinary special education service needs;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 125A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [125A.795] EXTRAORDINARY SPECIAL EDUCATION REVENUE.

new text begin A school districta??s extraordinary special education revenue equals the greater of: (1)
zero; or (2) the difference between (i) the districta??s net unreimbursed special education
costs, after reduction for excess cost aid calculated according to section 125A.79, and (ii)
$500 times the districta??s adjusted marginal cost pupil units for that year.
