A bill for an act
relating to education; permitting open enrollment students to participate in
academic courses and extracurricular and cocurricular activities on the same
basis as resident district students; amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section
124D.03, by adding a subdivision; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2006, section
128C.02, subdivision 5.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 124D.03, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

who enrolls in a nonresident district under this section is immediately eligible to fully
participate in all academic courses, athletic activities, extracurricular activities, and
cocurricular activities on the same basis as resident public school students in the district.

new text begin This section is effective the day following final enactment
and applies to students who enroll in a nonresident district under this section for the
2007-2008 school year and later.
