  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to metropolitan government; requiring minor 
  1.3             use airport status and restricting runway length at 
  1.4             Anoka county-Blaine airport; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1998, section 473.641, subdivision 4. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 473.641, 
  1.8   subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 4.  [EXPANSION OR UPGRADE OF METRO AIRPORT.] 
  1.10  Notwithstanding any other law, the metropolitan airports 
  1.11  commission shall not use revenue from any source, as described 
  1.12  by section 473.608, for construction of air facilities to expand 
  1.13  or upgrade the use of an existing metropolitan airport from 
  1.14  minor use to intermediate use status as defined by the 
  1.15  metropolitan development guide, aviation chapter, adopted 
  1.16  pursuant to section 473.145.  Notwithstanding the metropolitan 
  1.17  development guide, aviation chapter, to protect existing 
  1.18  wetlands, the Anoka county-Blaine airport shall remain a minor 
  1.19  use airport with runways not to exceed 4,855 feet in length.  
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [APPLICATION.] 
  1.21     Section 1 applies in the counties of Anoka, Carver, Dakota, 
  1.22  Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington.
