  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; appropriating money 
  1.3             for the office of tourism. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [OFFICE OF TOURISM APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $5,000,000 in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2000, and 
  1.7   $5,000,000 in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2001, are 
  1.8   appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of trade 
  1.9   and economic development to be used by the office of tourism for 
  1.10  advertising and marketing to make the state more competitive in 
  1.11  regional, national, and international markets.  This 
  1.12  appropriation is in addition to the base appropriation for the 
  1.13  office.  
  1.14     $2,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.15  commissioner of trade and economic development to be used by the 
  1.16  office of tourism for the redesign and enhancement of the 
  1.17  office's information delivery systems to improve performance, 
  1.18  capacity, functionality, and integration.  This is a one-time 
  1.19  appropriation to be available for the biennium ending June 30, 
  1.20  2001.
