A bill for an act
proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article I, by adding a
section; providing for equality under the law to certain persons.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

The following amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, article I, is proposed to the
people. If the amendment is adopted, a new section will read as follows:

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged on account of
race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability,
ancestry, or national origin.

(a) The proposed amendment must be submitted to the people at the 2024 general election.
If ratified, the amendment is effective January 1, 2025. The question submitted shall be:

"Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide that equality under the law
must not be denied or abridged on account of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation,
gender identity or expression, age, disability, ancestry, or national origin?

(b) The title required under Minnesota Statutes, section 204D.15, subdivision 1, for the
question submitted to the people under paragraph (a) shall be: "Equal Rights Amendment."
