  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to corrections; defining local correctional 
  1.3             fees to include board, room, and other expenses, 
  1.4             thereby authorizing collection of those fees from 
  1.5             persons convicted of a crime and under control of a 
  1.6             local correctional agency; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.7             2001 Supplement, section 244.18, subdivision 1. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2001 Supplement, section 
  1.10  244.18, subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.11     Subdivision 1.  [DEFINITION.] As used in this section, 
  1.12  "local correctional fees" include fees for the following 
  1.13  correctional services:  
  1.14     (1) community service work placement and supervision; 
  1.15     (2) restitution collection; 
  1.16     (3) supervision; 
  1.17     (4) court ordered investigations; 
  1.18     (5) any other court ordered service; 
  1.19     (6) postprison supervision or other form of release; or 
  1.20     (7) the cost of board, room, clothing, and medical and 
  1.21  dental services; or 
  1.22     (8) supervision or other services provided to probationers 
  1.23  or parolees under section 243.16 to be provided by a local 
  1.24  probation and parole agency established under section 244.19 or 
  1.25  community corrections agency established under chapter 401.
