A bill for an act
relating to state government; requiring a feasibility study on creating a central fund
to pay for costs of providing accommodations to state employees with disabilities.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

The commissioner of management and budget, in consultation with the Commission
of Deaf, DeafBlind and Hard-of-Hearing Minnesotans, must report to the legislature and
the governor by January 5, 2015, on advantages and disadvantages of creating a central
fund in the state treasury to pay for costs of providing accommodations to executive
branch state employees with disabilities. The report must include:

(1) a summary of money spent by executive branch state agencies in fiscal years
2012 and 2013 for providing accommodations to executive branch state employees, to
the extent that such expenditures can be determined; and

(2) recommendations for laws and policies needed to implement a central
accommodation fund, or other recommendations related to best practices in provision of
accommodations for employees with disabilities in the executive branch.
