A bill for an act
relating to public safety; amending crime of damage to property of critical public
service facility, utility, or pipeline; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section
609.594, subdivision 2.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 609.594, subdivision 2, is amended to read:
Whoever deleted text begin causes damage todeleted text end new text begin intentionally
and without the consent of one authorized to give consent damages, takes, removes,
severs, or breaksnew text end the physical property of a critical public service facility, utility, or
pipeline deleted text begin with the intent to significantly disruptdeleted text end new text begin , that results in disruption or harm tonew text end the
new text begin infrastructure, new text end operation deleted text begin ofdeleted text end new text begin ,new text end or deleted text begin the provision ofdeleted text end services deleted text begin bydeleted text end new text begin ofnew text end the facility, utility, or
pipeline deleted text begin and without the consent of one authorized to give consentdeleted text end , is guilty of a felony
and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of
a fine of not more than $20,000, or both.

This section is effective August 1, 2015, and applies to crimes
committed on or after that date.
