A bill for an act
relating to local government; allowing town electors to authorize financial assistance
to a school; amending Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 365.10, by adding a
subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2016, section 365.10, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin The electors may authorize the town board to provide
financial assistance to a school, including a charter school. No funds shall be expended
under this subdivision until the town board, by resolution, determines that the expenditure
is in the town's interest. Lawful expenditures under this section shall include, but are not
limited to, expenditures for educational programs, after-school activities, and facilities for
community purposes.
