A bill for an act
relating to capital investment; appropriating money for a grant to District One
Hospital to stabilize Johnston Hall.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin DISTRICT ONE HOSPITAL, FARIBAULT; JOHNSTON HALL.

new text begin $1,500,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2014 to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for a grant to District One
Hospital in Faribault to stabilize Johnston Hall in order to preserve the safety and integrity
of the historic building so it can be renovated for reuse in the most cost-efficient manner.
The stabilization must be based on a current condition assessment and includes, but is
not limited to, roof repair or replacement and related building envelope repair to protect
the building from moisture penetration, mold and mildew remediation and prevention,
and structural stabilization. This appropriation does not cancel except as provided in
Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
