A bill for an act
relating to judiciary; requiring automatic expungement of eviction orders;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 484.014, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 484.014, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Expungement of eviction order. new text end

new text begin (a) Notwithstanding any law to the
contrary in its eviction order against a person, the court must order the automatic
expungement of the eviction court file three years after the date of the order. A landlord
may not use an expunged eviction order to determine eligibility of a person seeking
occupancy in that landlord's residential building.

new text begin (1) "landlord" has the meaning given in section 504B.001, subdivision 7; and
